Privacy ActCommunity One Children's Services (the Centre) has a responsibility to comply with the Information Privacy Act 2000, which governs the release of personal information. This means that private information regarding children and families will not be discussed with other families within the Centre or with other persons. Staff will respect parent/guardians rights to confidentiality when these rights do not conflict with the rights and safety of the children, eg, child protection matters. All private information regarding children and families will be held in a locked and secure place. Access will be restricted to staff working directly with your child. Information which is required for the daily operation of the program, the well-being of children and staff may be exchanged between staff members in the normal course of work and will be treated confidentially. You have a right to view the records held in regard to yourself and your child and may request this via the Centre's Coordinator. You will be asked to complete a request for access form outlining the reason for the request and if the reason for the request is reasonable access will be provided within 30 days of application. The Centre has a right to refuse access to files based on the terms specified in the Information Privacy Act 2000. |
